Gold Coast Libraries offers an exciting range of competitions for all ages throughout the year.

National Science Week competition

It's time to start planning your entry for our amazing National Science Week competition! Get creative and be in to win some great prizes, including the opportunity to have an up-close-and-personal experience with marine life at Sea World! Express your passion for our planet's oceans and let us help you spread your message, highlighting the need to protect our oceans and marine life.

There'll be categories for all ages, so everyone can get involved! The competition opens on Friday 7 August and entries must be in by Sunday 23 August. Check back here soon for full details!

Kids category (6 to 12 years)

  • Create an A3 poster with a fun fact about the sea - can be hand drawn/created or digital.

Youth category (13 to 17 years)

  • Create a short video or photo for social media to raise awareness relating to our marine life.

Adults/Open category

  • Submit a photo which represents the theme ‘Science of the Sea’ with a visible link to the Gold Coast. Include a short story (250 words maximum) on what the photo means to you, highlighting the local connection and why this aspect of our marine environment needs protecting.

Competition entries will be exhibited on our Gold Coast Libraries website and social media channels during September.
