City-wide significant species for conservation are those which are recognised as locally significant to the city and are identified as Matters of Local Environmental Significance (MLES).

A methodology was used to define species of city-wide significance based on scientifically robust criteria determined by an expert panel/ These criteria applied to the established lists of vascular flora and vertebrate fauna species for the city.

For a complete list of local significant species, please refer to Schedule SC6.7.8 Appendix 4: Significant species of the City Plan.

The small eastern Australian population of Little Tern (Sternula albifrons) is a City-wide significant species and is listed as least concern in Queensland.
