Where are the Fitness Centres located and can I come for a tour?
The City of Gold Coast operates two Fitness Centres located at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre at Southport and the Palm Beach Aquatic Centre. For a tour of our facilities, contact centre reception and one of our team members will show you around the facility and explain the membership options available.
What are the operating hours?
Gold Coast Aquatic Centres are open every day except Good Friday, ANZAC Day and Christmas Day. Hours vary between the summer and winter months and differ between venues. For a full list of operating hours by venue visit cityofgoldcoast.com.au/citypools.
What memberships are available and what are the payment options?
Fitness Centre memberships are available in three, six and 12-month* options and include access to the gym, pools, group fitness and aqua classes. Six and 12-month memberships can be paid in full on joining or you can opt to pay by fortnightly direct debit. Direct debits are not available for the three-month membership. There is a $75 administration fee for all new six and 12-month memberships.
*Please note that 12-month memberships are currently not available at Palm Beach Aquatic Centre.
If I don’t want a membership, can I visit casually?
Yes, we have casual memberships available for one or 14 days which includes access to the gym, pools, group fitness and aqua classes. Multi-class passes are also available for one, 10 or 25 aqua or group fitness classes.
How do I join?
Our team will discuss membership options with you and assist with the completion of the necessary forms and induction. As part of your membership, you will be given a welcome pack containing your key tag, the centre’s terms and conditions, group fitness timetable and direct debit schedule if applicable and a copy of your membership form.
What is the minimum age?
The minimum age to join the fitness centre is 15 years. For persons under the age of 18, a parent or guardian's consent must be signed on the membership form.
What should I bring with me?
Whenever you visit the fitness centre or take part in a group fitness class, we ask you wear gym clothing (no swimwear unless participating in an aqua class), suitable footwear and bring along a towel and water bottle.
Do you have group fitness classes? Can I book a spot in a class?
We have a variety of group fitness classes with a focus on power, cardio, strength and mind and body connections. Our timetable is reviewed and updated regularly. Download and view the current timetable for each centre.
Classes run for 45 minutes unless specified. To join a group fitness class, scan your pass at reception to receive a class pass. Unfortunately you are unable to pre-book a spot in a group fitness class.
Do you do body composition analysis?
The Southport centre has an InBody770 and bookings can be made directly with Fitness Centre reception.
Can I transfer my membership to someone else?
All fitness centre memberships are non-transferrable.
Can I suspend my membership if I am sick, injured or go on holidays?
Yes, all requests for membership suspensions must be made by completing a suspension form. A minimum of two weeks’ notice is required to process a suspension request. Suspensions are available for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of six weeks per year. If you are injured or unwell a maximum of 12 weeks suspension may be available on receipt of documentation from a registered medical practitioner. Requests for suspensions over 12 weeks will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For more information please refer to the fitness centre terms and conditions.
What if I lose my key tag?
Access key tags are issued to all members and must be presented each visit. Should you not have your tag for three consecutive visits, you will be charged a $10 replacement fee for a new key tag. If you lose your key tag, call the centre to let the reception team know.
Do you have child care?
There is a crèche available at our two fitness centres that caters for children from 12 weeks to six years of age for a maximum of two hours. As long as you are a current centre member, pass holder, pool user or have your child enrolled in an aquatic program, you are able to use the crèche. Bookings are essential. Fees are additional to your membership and must be paid in advance of using the crèche.
Is free parking available?
At Palm Beach Aquatic Centre there is three hours free parking available. At Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, metered parking is available, with limited free parking available to certain centre memberships in accordance with the City’s approved fees and charges. Refer to Gold Coast Aquatic Centre parking terms and conditions.
