Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) updates

The health and wellbeing of the Gold Coast community, our customers and City employees is our first priority.

We are receiving advice from the Federal Government and Queensland Health on a daily basis to inform our response to the Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

Parks are open with visitors encouraged to take recommended health and social distancing precautions.

The following City services and facilities have resumed:

  • all playgrounds, gym equipment and barbecues open
  • skate parks and outdoor basketball courts open
  • sports fields and parks are open for use by families, friends and members of the same household (up to 20 people) for outdoor non-contact activity. Community sport and recreation clubs can return to activity, as long as they meet the Queensland Government COVID-19 restrictions. This includes the completion of all the requirements documented in any associated Industry COVID Safe Plan before activity begins. Visit Queensland Government - Return to Play for details.
  • Broadwater Parklands are open, with all facilities available in line with current restrictions. The bouncy pillow has reopened and the rockpools wet play area will reopen 11 July from 9am – 3pm. The Rotary Chapel has reopened for weddings and events can proceed in line with relevant COVID Safe Event Plans.

Water fountains/bubblers: Based on advice from Queensland Health, these will remain turned on; however users should practice appropriate hygiene. We will increase cleaning frequency.

Soap dispensers are available in some public amenities in our most popular parks.

Complaints about non–compliance with current social distancing regulations should be referred to Police link hotline 131 444.
